From the Word: Why we need to repent

One day the full extent of God's glory will be revealed to all.

Romans chapter 3 vs 23-24 (New International Version)

23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

24 and all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus

I get the feeling that if people really and truly saw the glory of God they would immediately bow down in terror and/or awe.

It’s not something many people seem to respect or acknowledge or even understand.

There are hints of this in the Old Testament, where Moses goes up to meet God on the mountain.

God actually gave the Israelites the option … he would meet with them personally, but they opted out and said they’d rather listen to what God instructed Moses.

In modern times, many people carry on like God barely exists, living mostly selfish lives.

It’s why Paul writes that ALL have sinned and thus fall short of the glory of God.

Some try to please God, but many blatantly reject Him. In His grace and mercy He holds back, but that won’t extend forever.

A day of reckoning for every single person is most certainly coming.

Mankind was born into a state of sin. Thus his natural inclination is to rebel and do what he or she wants.

We’ve just come to think of that as normal. It’s not. We were destined to live in fellowship with God.

Fortunately, there is a way back to God for sinful man: Jesus Christ.

His sacrificial death, and subsequent resurrection paved the way for us to be reconciled to the Father through the power of the Holy Spirit.

It’s not difficult, or complicated.

Our part is to acknowledge that we have have sinned, and repent.

The second part is to believe that God sent Christ (His only begotten Son) to pay the price for our sin.

Then, believing that Jesus rose again, we have the hope that our eternal future with God in the afterlife is secure.

One day everyone will see His glory in all of its awesomeness.

For some it’ll be a day of absolute terror. For others it’ll be a day of joy previously unknown.
