OPINION: ‘Hospice says thanks for support’

Hospice has passed this fund-raising baton down the years to schools and fund-raisers and it is still bringing beautiful voices to the community today.

The board, management and team of South Coast Hospice extend their grateful thanks for the participation in 2018 Voices for Hospice fund-raising event.

South Coast Hospice carries on a tradition first handed to South Coast Hospice fund-raiser Barbara Hall, who, under the guidance of Dr Yvonne Huskisson, started this event 28 years ago.

Hospice has passed this fund-raising baton down the years to schools and fund-raisers and it is still bringing beautiful voices to the community today.

Dr Yvonne Huskisson, who put this musical event in place with the intention of collecting funds for patients living with life-threatening illnesses.

It has been an event in which schoolchildren are asked to raise funds for quality palliative care for patients living with life-threatening illnesses.

A love bag is given to the schools with an invitation to participate.

Izotsha Primary School choir took part.

Hospice thanked the following schools for their participation both in collecting funds and for choirs attending: Port Edward Primary, Margate Primary, Izotsha Primary, Port Shepstone Junior Primary, Port Shepstone High, Suid-Natal Primary and Hlanganani Preparatory School.

Thanks also goes to Gamalakhe Methodist Church Choir, the community of parents, family and friends and staff and volunteers of South Coast Hospice.
