DEAR Editor,-
A total stranger from Gauteng will be forever in my prayers.
I had just taken my husband of 40 years to see a neurologist in Port Shepstone for confirmation of his Parkinson’s-related dementia and was returning to Margate via the toll road.

I pulled up to the toll booth, went to get my change purse out of my handbag, and couldn’t find it.
I asked the booth attendant if I could pull over and search for my purse, but was told that wasn’t possible.
With the heavy influx of tourists to the coast for the Christmas holidays, there was soon a long line of cars building up behind me and I couldn’t possibly reverse out.
The toll attendant didn’t offer any suggestions and I was close to panicking when the driver of the car behind me got out, came up to the toll booth, and gave the attendant the fee.
I could only say ‘Thank you’ and head through the toll gate.
Being an ‘out-of-towner’ he may not read the South Coast Herald, but I had to make some effort to say how grateful I am for his assistance.
