DEAR Editor:
Umdoni Municipality congratulates the Matric class of 2019 who passed their final Senior Certificate Examinations. Their hard work and determination has resulted with an impressive increase in the pass rate.
The notable collaborative efforts from different stakeholders has yielded positive results with Ugu District having the highest pass rate of 86.3 percent in KwaZulu-Natal.

We therefore wish all those who have successfully completed high school the best of luck in their future endeavours as they plan to study towards different careers in 2020.
May they exercise the same discipline in acquiring qualifications towards the professional field and when choosing careers, let them be reminded not to forget to contribute in the scarce skills areas of South Africa.
To those who were unsuccessful, we urge them not to despair. Government has ensured that opportunities to rewrite are made available, so take advantage of this second lease in education and improve results.
We are pleased to share that our municipality has shone in the district with one of the top five achievers in the district coming from our municipality.
We congratulate Sfundo Oratile Shozi from Scottburgh High School for flying the Umdoni flag high.
I would therefore like to convey a special thanks to the different stakeholders that tremendously supported the class of 2019.
We thank all teachers, school governing bodies, teacher unions, parents, guardians and friends for their unwavering support to pupils throughout the year.
Our municipality will continue to plant a seed towards ensuring an improved level of education in communities and we will achieve this through ensuring that education remains at the apex of our priorities in building better communities in Umdoni.
We wish everyone well for the future.
