DEAR Editor,-
Several months ago a water main leak occurred at the entrance to Caro Road in Southport.
To repair this leak a trench was dug across the width of Caro Road.
Leaking water main pipes were replaced (the old pipes are still lying on the side of the road).

The trench was filled in and levelled off, but not sealed.
Time and traffic has caused the fill in the trench to subside and it is now an ever-deepening road hazard.
Christmas and New Year have passed, but could the Roads Department not leap into action and do a bit of maintenance work?

Ray Nkonyeni Municipality responds:
We will investigate if this work was not done by Ugu District Municipality and if so we will engage with them to sort out whatever that may have not been properly fixed and also to attend to the issue of old pipes that are still lying on the side of the road.
