OPINION: ‘The quick and the cryptic – it’s all a puzzle to me’

It would appear that a compiler has a predilection for confusing his words with numbers, inviting the rest of us to adopt a clairvoyant solution to the conundrum.

I have to say your crosswords have recently become extremely challenging, not to mention nonsensical; the October 30th edition was as mystifying as one a couple of weeks ago.

It would appear that a compiler has a predilection for confusing his words with numbers, inviting the rest of us to adopt a clairvoyant solution to the conundrum.

Ignore the numbers, he says, concentrate on the words – no, sorry, the other way round.

Oh, what the hell, make up your own clues to fit the spaces, it’s far more fun!
