OPINION: ‘Holey moley, these roads need help’

Locals might know about these, but what about our unsuspecting holidaymakers?

Our roads are in desperate need of TLC before the Christmas rush.

If only competent contractors were employed to do repairs, the potholes would stay ‘sealed’ but no, it often appears more like a social gathering, with the workers seemingly having no idea of how to go about the necessary in a proper way.

They throw two spades of stone in, press it down, and done.

One must put a thin layer in, press it down, add some black liquid, then another layer, and press it down.

Give the final top coat two or three thumps.

One of the biggest problem areas is between the Tweni traffic lights and Southport.

Another is outside the library where if you follow the white line to the Blue Flag beach you’ll find an enormous hole which has been there since December 25 last year.

Leaving the beach, cars turn left into Gall Street (aptly named). The entire street as you drive up to the main road is holes all the way – huge holes.

Locals might know about these, but what about our unsuspecting holidaymakers?

Please help!
