OPINION: ‘Desmond Tutu remembered as a ‘wonderful soul’

He knew how to inspire and galvanize a tired and weary people, especially us as activists.

DEAR Editor;

The death of South African Anglican theologian, Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu is a great loss indeed. A wonderful soul.

I had the good fortune of meeting with him many times through my work and found his commitment to building a democratic SA unwavering.

He knew how to inspire and galvanize a tired and weary people, especially us as activists.

Amidst all the seriousness, he also had a sense of humour that made him the likeable and loveable soul he was.

In 1996, I received an award from him for “bridge building” and peace work in violence torn communities.

Rest in peace.
