Following the declaration of the results of the matric class of 2023, a point was mooted by a government official that South Africa is a sovereign country, therefore there should be one education system with a common competency test, also called an examination, for all schools and similar places of education.
Much as it flies in the face of convention, as the present system is split into two camps, namely government versus private (and obviously more costly), schooling.
Just think of the benefits if this system was embraced by teaching institutions and the relevant government departments.
Learners would be able to move seamlessly between the schools and the curriculae would be the same.
A standard set of text books would suffice for all.
Problems with setting of examination papers would be shared between all parties and one would then know that because of the examination system, all students would then be tested on equal terms.
This would then level the proverbial playing field and the excuse of challenges being faced by some learners would no longer be applicable.
Equal education for all therefore presents equal examinations for all, which leads to an equal future for all in the workplace.
Such a policy change would therefore do away with the EEEEE policy as we will all be equal in the eyes of the labour market. Viva.
