OPINION: ‘Where are the real benefits?”

It is time for the opposition to unite against the ANC that has brought about a failed State that operates only to serve the ANC elite.

DEAR Editor;

The residents of Ray Nkonyeni Municipality have all had the benefits of the following ANC initiatives.

We have had the benefit of the recent Take Parliament to the People, an initiative that has promised improvements from the usual suspects – the same leadership that has failed to deliver any meaningful assistance for those affected by the recent floods.

Our experience with central government promises is one of distrust and disbelief as little happens to improve the lives of the residents. We still have the benefit of major water problems in much of the constituency despite the efforts of the DA in assisting to arrange finance for pump upgrades.

We have the benefit of the Eskom debacle. We are now entering the holiday season which is vital to the local economy and once again the spectre of ANC corruption and incompetence has manifested itself in the Stage 6 power load-shedding situation experienced by citizens of this once great country.

We have the benefit of ever deteriorating roads where potholes and washaways are the order of the day.

Once again, the businesses and people of the KZN South Coast get the foul end of the stick! This manifests itself in the inability of the local businesses to create jobs and improve the lives of all the residents.

The press is awash with infighting within the ANC which will continue till the misruling party decides which is the next bunch of thieves to steal the wealth from an already suffering populace which certainly deserves better.

We don’t need further ANC benefits on the South Coast. We prefer honesty and integrity, two concepts missing from the ANC lexicon.

It is time for the opposition to unite against the ANC that has brought about a failed State that operates only to serve the ANC elite.

Only then can we begin the arduous task of fixing South Africa so that it may serve all its people.

Ward 2 Councillor
