Firearm and drugs recovered in Ezinqoleni

A total of 73 zen drug tablets, a .38 special with four rounds as well as four empty cartridges, one 9mm round and three 9mm blank rounds were found.

A 36-year-old man was recently nabbed for discharging a firearm in public and for being in possession of a firearm without a licence.

Port Shepstone police spokesperson, Captain Petros Mpinge, said on November 20, police received information of a firearm being discharged in a public area in Ezinqoleni.

Mpinge said members of SAPS Ezinqoleni Crime Prevention and Port Shepstone Public Order Police (POP) proceeded to the scene where on the way they spotted the suspect’s vehicle.

“While searching the vehicle, 73 zen drug tablets, a .38 special with four rounds as well as four empty cartridges, one 9mm round and three 9mm blank rounds were found. The 36-year-old suspect is in police custody awaiting a court appearance. He is facing charges of possession of a firearm without a licence, possession of ammunition, possession of drugs and discharging of a firearm in public,” said Mpinge.
