Habitual criminal receives 20-year sentence

A murder case was opened for investigation and assigned to Warrant Officer Michael Msizazwe who wasted no time in locating Sibusiso Mfanufikile Mqemane Ndovela.

Sibusiso Mfanufikile Mqemane Ndovela was recently sentenced to 20 years in prison for the murder of a 19-year-old man.

According to Port Shepstone police spokesperson, Captain Petros Mpinge, on December 26, 2017, Ndovela stabbed the victim in the abdomen at a tavern in Bhomela, near Paddock.

Mpinge said the victim was rushed to hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
He added that a murder case was opened for investigation and assigned to Warrant Officer Michael Msizazwe who wasted no time in locating Ndovela.

“As soon as Ndovela realised that police were on to him, he fled to Shoshanguve in Pretoria where he was traced and arrested by Ugu District Operational Command Centre detective members on February 19, 2018. Ndovela had to finally face the music and stand trial for the murder. After making a number of court appearances, he was convicted and sentenced on Thursday, January 12,” said Mpinge, adding that Ndovela was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.

He added that Ndovela has yet to appear on other cases of common robbery, assault GBH and robbery.
Meanwhile, acting Ugu District Commissioner Brigadier Bongani Sibiya said he was pleased with the outcome of the case, saying that a brazen criminal has been removed from society.
