ANC in Tolomane Mnyayiza urged to unite
Maropene Ramokgopa, the ANC's second deputy secretary general, said the ANC is losing in by-elections in KZN, adding that they don't know how it happened.
The ANC’s second deputy secretary general, Maropene Ramokgopa said they have seen that the party loses in by-elections in KZN.
Ramokgopa was speaking at the Port Shepstone Civic Centre last Saturday, when the ANC National Working Committee (NWC) visited different parts of the province.
Ramokgopa said the NWC visit forms part of the ANC’s renewal programme, saying that it was aimed at reconnecting with their constituencies, organisational structures, and communities.
She said the visit involved engagements with the Provincial Executive Committee (PEC), Regional Executive Committees (RECs), Branch Executive Committees (BECs), the leagues and the Tripartite Alliance partners
Ramokgopa they have seen in KZN, the ANC is losing in by-elections, adding that they don’t know how it happened.
“We are just glad that this did not happen in Ray Nkonyeni. We must win these by-elections in order to win in 2024. To win the national elections we need to win KZN and Gauteng by 60% or 68%,” said Ramakgoba.
She urged ANC members in the Tolomane Mnyayiza Region to unite and leave behind all the things that have divided them and the entire ANC.
“When you go to a conference, it is permissible for you to differ in opinion, but when you have chosen the leadership, you must unite. The ANC was built to shape Africans as its basis for victory. Let’s unite so that the ANC of our generations will get power. We have to fight corruption, and provide the people with their needs. If you go to war, you cannot go to war with empty soldiers, so we have to take care of our volunteers, give them what they need to work well and win in 2024,” she said.
Meanwhile, Tolomane Mnyayiza regional secretary, Xolani Luthuli said the ANC in the region is alive and well with 75 branches that elected two regional leaders in April after a long time the region had a temporary leadership.
“We will organise an ANC Local Government Summit to get to know the problems of municipalities in the delivery of public services before the 2024 elections. We are working with our partners the SACP and COSATU. In Umuziwabantu Municipality we are governing in coalition with ABC and we are trying with AL-JAMAH so that we can govern freely,” he said.
