Clean-up campaign promotes active citizenry

The Zakhele Gcaba Branch strives to create an atmosphere where individuals take pride in their surroundings, leading to an enhanced quality of life for everyone.

The ANC’s Zakhele Gcaba Branch recently embarked on a clean-up campaign in Murchison, Ward 22.
According to the branch coordinator, Ndumiso Hadebe the clean-up was undertaken as part of the Letsema Campaign which was recently relaunched by ANC President, Cyril Ramaphosa.

He said the clean-up campaign by the Zakhele Gcaba Branch aligns with the ANC’s unwavering commitment to promoting active citizenry and inculcating a culture of volunteerism to address societal issues.

“On a weekly basis, dedicated ANC volunteers under Zakhele Gcaba Branch come together to embark on transformative programmes, and this clean-up campaign forms part of the branch’s effort to foster a cleaner, safer environment, and to stimulate unity and collective responsibility among the ANC volunteers and the entire Ward 22 community. Our clean-up campaign goes beyond just picking up litter; it is a testament to the power of collective action and the potential for meaningful change when we stand united,” said Hadebe, adding that the Zakhele Gcaba Branch understands the crucial role of a clean environment in fostering a sense of belonging and ownership among residents.

He added that by keeping public spaces clean, the branch strives to create an atmosphere where individuals take pride in their surroundings, leading to an enhanced quality of life for everyone.
Hadebe said the branch extends its sincere gratitude to all the volunteers and community members who participated in the campaign.

“Critically, the branch believes that the success of its clean-up programme will not only encourage the broader Ward 22 community to participate in similar initiatives in the future but would also inspire all branches under the Tolomane Mnyayiza Region to play their part in cementing the position of the ANC as the leader of the society by driving successful community campaigns that make an indelible impact in the lives of the people of the region,” said Hadebe.

The cleanup was in Murchison under Ward 22.
