Bringing people together through music
The former Port Shepstone Secondary School said since December 2022, his focus has been solely on music production and services surrounding his brand as Skeyes.
Producer of house music, Theeyoshan (Theo/Skeyes) Naicker hopes to one day own a record label focusing on youth development, with the aim of investing in music.
The house DJ from Albersville said his love for music started when he was in high school, but only came to life in 2018, when he formed a group called Project One to develop a sound formed by three different producers, Zamani Nesty, Zee Mzobe and Siyanda Limar Mbili.
He said in 2020 he began learning more about himself and the signature sound he wanted to invest in.
In 2021 he ventured into public deejaying having been given his first opportunity by DjNqobzin of Yash’ichaos in Merlewood.
The former Port Shepstone Secondary learner said since December 2022, his focus has been solely on music production and services surrounding his brand Skeyes.
Naicker explained that what he loves most in music production is that you are able to transfer what you feel into sound, saying that the process is beautiful,
“Take your favourite song for example, it speaks to you. For deejaying it has to be the support and appreciation from all the people who attend gigs. The joy you see as a crowd gathers on the dance floor, and that sensational vibrant feeling you get behind the decks, knowing in that moment it’s about you,” he said, adding that some of the challenges he faces include the expectation of a result without understanding the work needed to achieve those results.
The producer said he dreams to someday leave behind something that will continue to give and create opportunities in music, to bring people together as one.
“By the end of this calendar year all my music should have been uploaded to all digital stores – should there be no delays. I am open to working with people and sharing knowledge. Life is about learning and the more we develop each other then the better we control what is in our surroundings,” he said.
