After two years of living with her daughter, Gogo Deleka Ncane is thrilled to move into her new RDP house in Ward 11 in KwaNzimakwe.
Ncane received her new home, last week, after KZN MEC for Human Settlements and Public Works Sipho ‘KK’ Nkosi visited the area with Operation Siyahlola.
Nkosi was inspecting Phase 2 of the KwaNzimakwe Rural Housing Project in Wards 10 and 11.
During the handover, Nkosi was accompanied by Ray Nkonyeni Municipality mayor Zodwa Mzindle and Ward 11 councillor Mxolisi Jula.
Jula said because of Ncane’s age and health, he is glad that she is now able to move into her new home.
“She did not receive her home during the first phase of the project and she waited over two years. She had been living with her daughter, now I am happy that she can have her own space to live freely and her daughter can visit her,” said Jula.
Clr Jula added that they have also pleaded with Nkosi to consider giving Ward 1, 10, and 11 another 1 000 units, as more people in these wards who need homes have been excluded from the first two phases.
He added that the first two phases were initiated by former councillors, and that they want to add more to their wards as the new councillors.
Nkosi also took Operation Siyahlola to Amandawe under Umdoni Municipality, where he inspected the KwaCele Rural Housing Project in three wards.
