SPCA staff cross the finish line

For staff of the LSC SPCA, every step counted.

Nine staff members of the Lower South Coast SPCA walked 30km in six hours and 34 minutes to raise funds for new vehicles.
SPCA staff recently set out from their Uvongo premises and walked to Port Edward in an effort to try to demonstrate to the community just how desperate they are for new vehicles.

“The area that we are responsible for is extremely large, spanning from Hibberdene to Port Edward and inland, and driving these distances almost every day results in racking up kilometres quite quickly. The Inspectorate travels daily into rural areas where the roads are worse for wear. We need more wheels,” said Mike Davis, LSC SPCA manager.

He thanked everyone who supported their initiative, from family members to Wolf Security, Saps and Law Enforcement who kept them safe along the route.

“A big thanks to Clint Barrett and Myburgh Coetzer for helping transport everyone back afterwards. We could not have done it without you,” he said.

All business or community members who would like to sponsor/pledge towards their vehicle fundraising initiative can email admin@spcalsc.org.za or call 039 3120962.

Spirits were high at the end of the SPCA’s 30km walk.
