Champions emerge from Genesis gym
Wanda Mvundla is the leader of the Genesis Community Gym, based near Port Shepstone.
Weightlifter Wanda Mvundla has won the U67kg division of the recent KZN Olympic Weightlifting Champs held in Durban.
He described the champs as challenging yet exhilarating, a place where he had the opportunity to meet some remarkable athletes.
Ironically, perhaps, he seemed to enjoy this aspect of the champs almost more than actually winning his division.
He was also honoured to receive the prestigious Champ of Champs award for his overall performance.
Wanda is the leader of the Genesis Community Gym, based near Port Shepstone.
He said he is passionate about fostering a sense of community through functional intensity training.
“Our gym welcomes individuals from diverse backgrounds and athletic abilities, providing a unique approach to exercise and group training. At Genesis, we prioritise building relationships and connecting people through fitness,” he said.
In some other exciting news, it seems the gym continues to be the home of champions, with Bongani Mhlongo also achieving remarkable success.
He ‘absolutely dominated’ at the recent World Fitness Federation SA for Provincial Bodybuilding Show held in Port Edward a few weeks ago.
Not only did he claim first place, but he also clinched the overall prize.
His friends and fellow gym mates are beyond proud of him for his hard work and dedication.
Bongani’s outstanding performance has earned him a spot in the WFF South African bodybuilding competition later in the year.
“This is a testament to his incredible talent and commitment to the sport,” said Wanda.
