Jail time for housebreakers

The two men were apprehended by security personnel.

Two housebreakers were sentenced in the Port Shepstone District Court last Friday for theft.

Enock Sihle Mthethwa (36) was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment.Nhlanhla Lucky Shinga (40) was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment.

This came after they had been apprehended by security personnel after breaking into homes in Marburg and Shelly Beach.It is believed that the crimes were committed on April 19 this year.

Detective Commander at Saps Port Shepstone, Colonel Zenzele Khumalo reiterated that the justice system does work.

”While the sentence may sound punitive to some, it serves to prove that criminals will serve time in prison for property crimes.”
