Thrilling street soccer at Seaslopes

The street soccer tournament is designed to bring together local soccer enthusiasts in a competitive, yet friendly environment.

Margate residents enjoyed a fun-filled day watching a five-a-side street soccer tournament at Seaslopes recently, aimed at promoting community engagement and teamwork.

The event was a huge success, with a thrilling final between Seaslopes United that clinched victory over London FC.

“We are targeting individuals aged 16 and above who are passionate about soccer and want to compete at community level. We are looking for teams and clubs that are seeking opportunities for competition, networking and skills development,” said organiser Samkelo Cele.

Sanele Mshishi Mkhize, the referee at the tournament.

He said the tournament is designed to bring together local soccer enthusiasts in a competitive yet friendly environment, saying that the concept revolves around small-sided games that are fast-paced and exciting, ensuring maximum engagement and enjoyment for players and spectators alike.

“Building on the success of our previous two tournaments, which saw tremendous participation and positive feedback, we aim to elevate this event to new heights. Our vision is to create an even more memorable experience for soccer stars and spectators, fostering a spirit of sportsmanship, teamwork and community pride,” he said.

At the next event, the organisers are seeking sponsors to help them provide essential soccer equipment, such as small goalposts, soccer balls, kits, pumps, and whistles.
