Hospital bids farewell to two specialists
Doctor Frederick Coetzee and Noel Naidoo's departure is a significant loss to the Port Shepstone Regional Hospital.
The Port Shepstone Regional Hospital recently held a farewell ceremony for two specialists, Dr Frederick Coetzee from orthopaedics and Dr Noel Naidoo from surgery.
The hospital’s PRO, Phumza Morai, said both specialists significantly contributed to their respective departments.
She said they managed complex cases and addressed challenges such as long patient waiting times due to substantial backlogs.
Morai said these doctors have been instrumental in leading their departments through periods of intense pressure.
She said their departure leaves a notable gap in the hospital’s capacity to address elective procedures.
“The backlog of elective patients awaiting surgery is a concern, as their departure has the potential to exacerbate delays in treatment,” said Morai.
The medical department expressed gratitude to both specialists for their dedicated service and invaluable contributions to the hospital, saying that their expertise and commitment have impacted many patients, and their absence will be keenly felt.
Meanwhile, the hospital’s HR manager, Mxolisi Zulu, said Coetzee and Naidoo’s departure was a significant loss.
He said they will work closely with medical management and KZN Health to expedite the recruitment process for new specialists.
“Efforts will be made to minimise disruption while awaiting the appointment of the new specialists. Port Shepstone Regional Hospital extends its best wishes to Dr Coetzee and Dr Naidoo in their future endeavours,” he said.
