New MM and CFO for Umuziwabantu
Umuziwabantu Municipality urged the staff, stakeholders, and the community to offer the new managers full support.
Umuziwabantu Municipality recently announced the appointment of Thembinkosi Pat Cele as the new municipal manager.
According to the municipal spokesperson, Bruce Jalubane, the KZN Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) officially endorsed the appointment.
He said Cele brings a wealth of experience and expertise, having served in similar leadership roles in municipalities such as Umzumbe and others.
Jalubane said Cele is no stranger to Umuziwabantu Municipality.
“He served as acting municipal manager for several months before being permanently appointed. His proven leadership and deep understanding of our municipality’s vision and objectives make him exceptionally well-suited to guide Umuziwabantu on its development path,” he said.
He added that Umuziwabantu council appointed Hlanzeka Mchunu as the new CFO. Mchunu was previously the manager of the budget department and served as the acting CFO.
“She demonstrated her dedication and skill in managing the municipality’s financial responsibilities. We extend our congratulations to Cele and Mchunu on their appointments. As they step into their respective roles, we call on the staff, stakeholders, and the Umuziwabantu community to offer their full support. Together, we can achieve our shared goal of fostering a well-managed, financially sound, and community-focused municipality,” he said.
