Swimmers have chance to impress national scouts
The level of competition was high.
Blue Ocean Aquatics (BOA) took part in the MAC gala at King’s Park outside pool in Durban from October 25 to 27.
It was part of a high-performance scouting gala with the Swimming South Africa high-performance manager there to watch for potential swimmers to be part of the KZN high-performance squad.
BOA sent 11 swimmers who competed over three days and swam in 59 events, in which 46 personal best times were obtained.
Ella Bunge came home with three bronze medals – in the 50m freestyle, 200m individual medley and 200m events.
Caylen Preston won gold in the 50m backstroke, silver in the 50m freestyle and bronze in the 25m butterfly race.
Peter Koegelenberg won a bronze medal in the 200m individual medley.
Blue Ocean Aquatics placed 12th overall out of 28 clubs, with the girls team placing ninth and the boys 14th.
