Verstappen delights fans in Qatar

This final race of the season is still worth watching and should excite all Formula One fans for this year.

New world champion Max Verstappen pleased his fans by winning the main race in Qatar last Sunday, coming back strongly after a disappointing sprint race the day before.

The sprint race was led by Lando Norris, however he handed over victory to his teammate Oscar Piastri in return for a previous favour.

Back now to the main race.

Verstappen was back to his old form and drove a magnificent race from the first lap to the checkered flag.

The Ferraris performed well at this very fast track and Charles Leclerc drove a good race into second position.

The McLarens were also back on top form and Lando Norris was unlucky to incur a 10 second stop/go penalty.

This really undermined his chances at of keeping Verstappen honest right to the flag.

George Russell again outshone his teammates in his Mercedes and brought his car home in a well-earned fourth place.

Pierre Gasly gave another display of good driving in his still underpowered Alpine.

Next up was Carlos Sainz in the sister Ferrari, in his penultimate for Maranello.

The old man with the young heart, Fernando Alonso, pushed himself and his Aston Martin again to the limit to secure seventh position in an underperforming car.

They are really looking forward to help from Adrian Newey when he puts his genius into the Aston Martin team.

Zhou Guanyu fought a hard race and eight place doesn’t truly reflect his prowess.

Kevin Magnussen again was on top form and did well to come in the better half of the field in ninth position.

Finally, Lando Norris squeaked into tenth spot to earn his teams vital points to help them win the Manufacturers’ Championship, the results of which we will only know at nest week’s race in Abu Dhabi.

This final race of the season is still worth watching and should excite all Formula One fans for this year.
