Councillors face-off at soccer match
The soccer matches were part of the programme by the KZN Premier's office to mark the end of 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign.
Local councillors, mayors, and speakers of councils were seen battling it out at a friendly soccer match at the Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre on Tuesday last week.
The soccer matches were part of the programme by the KZN Premier’s office to mark the end of 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign.
The speaker of Ugu District Municipality, Sizwe Ngcobo, was seen playing. The speaker of Ray Nkonyeni Municipality, Phumlani Gumbi, and the speaker of Umzumbe Municipality, Simphiwe Mthethwa, were also seen on the pitch. Local councillors such as Sifundo Ngwane and Zamanai Ndwalane also took to the field.
Premier Thami Ntuli said men need to play an active role in calling out perpetrators of gender-based violence and also to protect women and children.
