Drug recovery group honours donors

Bongumusa Zulu said it was important to honour the sponsors as they play an instrumental role in the organisation being able to carry out its duties.

Drug recovery support group Phara 2 Paradise recently recognised its sponsors with certificates of appreciation.

The founder of the group, Bongumusa Zulu, said it was important to honour the sponsors as they play an instrumental role in the organisation being able to carry out its duties.

Zulu said he had to recognise Bablo Mavundla, the executive director of Bablo Funeral Support.

He said Mavundla had been supporting the organisation for two years.

“He is the main reason why members of Phara 2 Paradise have a uniform and look good. He contributes to a number of outreach programmes in Ward 25. He has even gone as far as inviting the mayor of Ray Nkonyeni Municipality, Zodwa Mzindle, for us,” he said.

Meanwhile, Zulu said it was important for the organisation to also express gratitude to the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Social Development MEC Mbali Shinga for the support she has given the group.

Although Phara 2 Paradise is not funded by the Department of Social Development, the MEC plays a big role in terms of donating to the organisation.

“I believe the MEC saw and liked the work done by the organisation. She first showed us support at the International Day Against Substance Abuse and Illicit Trafficking initiative hosted by Inkosi Langalibalele Municipality in June 2024. And, for that, we will always be grateful,” he said.
