Pageant hopeful aspires to uplift society
Aside from giving back, Noluthando Mthimkhulu advocates for a depression-free society.
Miss Phenomenal Queen South Africa hopeful Noluthando Pearl Mthimkulu recently decided to spread love by donating clothes to the Ziphakamise Emiseni Child and Youth Care Centre.
Mthimkulu also embarked on a clean-up campaign in Gamalakhe during the recent Ray Nkonyeni Municipality labour strike.
Speaking of the campaign, she said she believed it was up to everyone to look after the environment.
She said she entered Miss Phenomenal Queen because she wanted to use the platform to amplify her voice, educate and raise awareness of the two objectives of her organisation, the Mama weSizwe Foundation.
She said aside from giving back, the foundation advocates for a depression-free society.
Mthimkhulu explained that she loved modelling as a young girl.
“I used to get excited seeing women on television walking in heels, smiling and looking gorgeous. I started watching more pageant shows; I never missed Tyra Banks’ America’s Next Top Model. The love grew from there,” she said.
She said she started modelling in 2016 while doing matric, saying that the first pageant she won was Miss Gamalakhe.
The Mangosuthu University of Technology alumnus won the titles of Miss Gamalakhe Personality 2016, Miss Thami Xpress Queen 2016, and Miss Lonsdale Queen 2019.
Also, she was the second runner-up in the 2019 Miss KZN Townships pageant.
The Gamalakhe resident was also in the top five of South Africa’s Next International Models in 2019, a finalist in Miss KZN Colleges in 2019, and a second runner-up in Miss SALGA KZN 2020, among others.
Mthimkhulu said she loved the Miss Phenomenal Queen South Africa platform because it would allow her to embark on several initiatives that uplift the community.
