Sports tournament empowers young girls

It promoted physical activity, and encouraged learning through sports.

The KZN Department of Sports, Arts, and Culture in the Ugu District recently held an U12 girls’ football and cycling tournament at the Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre.

According to the department, the primary goal was to develop the young participants’ sports skills, promote physical activity, and encourage learning through sports.

“These events aim to empower girls, foster teamwork, and build confidence while creating a platform for talent development and equal opportunities in sports. Such initiatives are essential for breaking gender barriers and inspiring the next generation of female athletes. Let’s support these young stars as they shine on the field and the track,” said the department.
