Top of the podium for Piastri

It was Oscar Piastri’s turn to win a grand prix, going all the way in Bahrain last Sunday. Piastri drove a cool and calculated race at the Sakhir circuit.
The relaxed and calm driver that he is, he made the achievement look so easy, such is his ability. I think that we will see a lot more credits coming his way in future.

George Russell took second position after another great drive in the improving Mercedes. Despite several difficulties, including a penalty which pushed him behind Charles Leclerc on the grid, the Englishman showed his ability, which could win him races in the coming months.

Next up was our man from London Town, who never gives up. Yes, Lando Norris was on the podium again to add healthy points to his lead in the world championship. He handled his challenges during the race rather well and deserved the good finish.

The beautiful red Ferraris were next in line, with a solid fourth for Leclerc and another good drive, for which he was given the driver of the day award, for Lewis Hamilton in fifth. If the Maranello machines can just find either a little more pep or even more slipperiness, they have the two drivers capable of taking them to the top.

Such is the competition in F1 nowadays that Max Verstappen only came in seven seconds behind Hamilton. He also needs a bit more from his car to take him back to the fore. His sixth position does not do justice to his real ability.

Right on Verstappen’s tail, less than two seconds behind, was Pierre Gasly in the Alpine. He was followed by Esteban Ocon in his Haas Ferrari.

In ninth place was Verstappen’s teammate, Yuki Tsunoda, while Oliver Bearman, in the sister Haas, beat Kimi Antonelli by half a second to the last points scoring position of tenth place. It was a good race with close competition throughout.

The ‘Circus’ now hops across Arabia to the Jeddah street circuit in Saudi in just seven days’ time for the next race. Then there’s a two week break with Miami on the horizon.
