Jukskei players shine at champs

People of all ages are welcome to play.

South Coast Jukskei Club players took part in the recent South Africa Senior Jukskei Champs, held in Kroonstad.

Various districts and provincial regionals within the country competed, plus a team from Namibia.

One of the highlights were the international test matches which took place.

Unfortunately, many matches were rained out, but the players still enjoyed themselves, and the camaraderie was wonderful.

A number of players from the Ugu region (all South Coast Jukskei Club) represented KwaZulu-Natal at the champs.

Pieter van Reenen (captain) and Colin Kapp played in the KZN men’s over 50 A2 team.

Anne-Marie won the women’s over 50 doubles with partner Ester de Villiers.

Anne-Marie advanced to the playoffs, Northeast Region women over 50, with Pieter as the coach.

This team won the bronze medal.

Pieter congratulated the players on their efforts and said he was most proud of them.

He also explained that jukskei is a sport for young and old and welcomed those who would like to know more about the sport to contact him on 076 2185595.
