Child protection is everyone’s business
Together, through every conversation, GCF aims to build safer communities and protect children better.
Give a Child a Family Africa (GCF), a local child protection organisation based in Margate, invites the community to join its child protection events from May 31 to June 3.
This year’s national theme for Child Protection Week, which takes place from May 29 to June 5, is ‘Every Conversation Matters – Every Child in Every Community Needs a Fair Go’.
It highlights the importance of dialogue in keeping children safe and empowering families.
GCF is planning several outreaches during the week, including sharing child protection messages at churches, clinics, schools, and taxi ranks.
There will be a Child Protection Walk at Beaver Creek Coffee Estate in Port Edward on Saturday, May 31. Entry is R50 and includes a complimentary cappuccino. Participants are encouraged to wear green and stand a chance to win exciting prizes.
This will build up to the main event on Tuesday, June 3, from 09:30 to noon.
GCF will host an event for stakeholders and the public (parents, stakeholders and anyone interested) to raise awareness about the services offered in the area and how all can work together to keep children safe. The main theme of the day will focus on the importance of communication and children.
It’s an open invitation, everyone is welcome, so feel free to extend it to others who may wish to attend.
To confirm attendance or reserve a display table, contact Hazel Gigaba at hazel@gcf.org.za or on 039 3172761/076 5075942 by May 29.
