Informal economy chamber to drive growth

Umuziwabantu Municipality mayor Siboniso Zungu said the informal economy was important in driving local growth.

Umuziwabantu Municipality launched its Informal Economy Chamber last Thursday.

The municipal spokesperson, Bruce Jalubani, said the event brought together key stakeholders to discuss the future of the informal economy in the region.

The agenda included opening remarks by the chairperson and speaker, Petros Shebi, and a keynote address by the mayor, Siboniso Zungu.

Zungu emphasised the importance of the informal economy in driving local growth.

“The informal economy is a vital component of our local economy, providing opportunities for entrepreneurship and job creation. Through this chamber, we aim to create a supportive environment for informal businesses to thrive, and to foster partnerships between the formal and informal sectors,” he said.
