Good turn out for Gamalakhe youth games
The prizes included a soccer kit, trophy, medals and a sheep.
In celebration of Youth Month, Clr Mdumiseni Cele hosted the Ward 27 Youth Games at the Bambayi Sports Field in Gamalakhe last Saturday.
The games kicked off with a walk against gender-based violence.
It also featured an aerobics session led by coach Nana Cwele of the Thick and Fab ladies.
Soccer and netball games were part of the festivities.
The prizes included a soccer kit, trophy, medals and a sheep.
Cele said for next year’s games, a live cow will be part of the prizes.
According to Mbongeni Mthembu, who watched the soccer matches, the Nositha team proved to be competitive and earned a lot of respect from the spectators.
He said the team played well and worked together, but lost to Juventus in the finals.
Meanwhile, Cele praised the number of people who participated, promising that the prizes for next year’s games will be even bigger.
