Plentiful entertainment at soccer and netball tournament
At the opening games of the Bargain Xpress Soccer and Netball Tournament 2025 at Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre in Gamalakhe on Sunday, fans were treated to amazing skills on the soccer pitch and netball court. At the opening games of the Bargain Xpress Soccer and Netball Tournament 2025 at Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre in Gamalakhe on Sunday, fans were treated to amazing skills on the soccer pitch and netball court.
Teams from 12 Bargain Wholesale Group stores gathered to compete for prizes as part of the corporate’s team building efforts.
One of the organisers, Waseem Adams, said he is pleased with the success of the opening games and looks forward to the finale this Sunday (14th), where the winners will walk away with wonderful prizes.
“These games are part of our corporate strategy to bring employees together to enjoy football and netball. It’s our team-building exercise to restore teamwork among our employees for better working relationships and productivity. The opening match was between Bargain Legends and Ethiopian Stars. We have 12 teams: DC, Manaba, Flagstaff, Bizana, Harding, Zingolweni, Port Edward, Xpress Port Shepstone, Spendrite, Ingonyama, Marburg and MIP,” said Adams.
“We invite fans to come to the stadium to enjoy the football and netball,” he added.
The match between Bizana Bargain Ingonyama and Marburg Bargain Wholesalers ended on 1-0. Marburg won with Lihle Tshibiyane’s goal.
In another match between Bargain Port Edward and Spendrite, Port Edward won 6-0. Port Edward’s Mpandla Mathumbu scored the opener in the first half and Siya Ngaleka scored the second goal before break time. After break, Ngaleka scored three goals and Nciki Mathumbu added one more.
Meanwhile Bizana Bargain Ingonyama netball team beat Manaba Express 23-4.
Adams said the winner will walk away with R6000, the runner-up with R4500 and third place will get R3500.
He added that both the soccer and netball games were a resounding success, and that they are now looking forward to the finale this Sunday.
