Authors discuss creativity at literature festival in Uvongo
Authors in the region were encouraged to work together.
Authors Are Artists (AAA), a creative organisation, operating in the district of Ugu and beyond, held its second literature festival, where a lot was spoken about art and creativity.
This was at the Authors Are Artists Literature Festival at Uvongo Town Hall last Friday. Most of the attendees were youth, with a few older people, who shared ideas on how to take art to the next level, and probably make a living out of it.

However, the session was more about writing with impact. Speaking at this gathering, Vusumuzi Khumalo, a director of AAA, encouraged everyone to put more concentration into the session.
“We are here to get knowledge. I hope all of us get much-needed information of how we should write. No one will go out here empty-handed.”

One of the artists, Sthandwa Maphumulo, urged the artists and authors to work together with the benefit of helping each other grow.
“We have many talented authors within this region. If we can work together, we can go places, but our main problem is that we do not want to help each other. We need to unite in order for us to succeed in this industry.”
Government Communication and Information Systems (GCIS), Regional Deputy Director Khanyiso Seyisi said: “I do not want to say this, but I have to, our problem as black people is that we are full of jealousy. You will not always succeed on your own in every thing you do.”
