Justice prevails at last for grieving Mtwalume family
Ntuthuko Sosibo will be sentenced for the murder of Mandisa Cele on March 5.
Grieving father Mzwandile Dlungele feels justice has been served after his daughter, Mandisa Cele’s, murderer was found guilty in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court recently.
The accused, Ntuthuko Sosibo (27), will be sentenced on March 5.
During court proceedings, the magistrate said Sosibo intentionally killed Cele (20) of Squngeni area in Mtwalume.
Furthermore, the magistrate pointed out that evidence from witnesses proved that the young mother was in a relationship fraught with domestic abuse.
She also revealed that at first, Sosibo, the father of Cele’s child pleaded not guilty, but later changed his plea to guilty.
Cele’s body was found on her bed in her home by a neighbour and Sosibo’s parents on July 24, 2024. They (parents) were concerned as he had not returned home the previous evening.

“She was lying in bed facing up, tucked in the blanket, and her clothes were on top of her. She had a head injury, burst lip, bruises all over her body and blood had oozed out from her mouth and head,” said the magistrate.
According to further evidence presented in court, a blood trail revealed that Cele was dragged into the house from outside.
It is believed that after the incident, Sosibo fled to Durban and only returned on July 30. He then handed himself over to the police.
According to the magistrate, evidence also showed that Sosibo had an injury on his left arm, which had been stitched, and a bruise on his right hand which he claimed he had sustained washing cars at work.
The magistrate added that Sosibo killed Cele because he was angry at her after he saw her with another man at Hibberdene Beach.
An emotional Dlungele said that he is happy that Sosibo was found guilty and now the family is awaiting the sentencing.
“We have been hurt badly by the death of Mandisa because she was doing her matric at the time and we had our hope on her. We lost a lot by losing her because we believe she had a bright future. We will wait for the court to make its decision and we will accept whatever sentence they give him (Sosibo).”
