Easter peak tourism period for South Coast

An influx of domestic travellers are anticipated.

Accommodation establishments across the South Coast are reporting a gradual increase in bookings as the Easter weekend approaches.

According to South Coast Tourism and Investment and Enterprise, consistent with recent travel trends, many visitors are booking closer to arrival dates. Occupancy levels are therefore expected to build steadily, particularly over the long weekend.

CEO for SCTIE Vusumuzi Sibiya says an influx of domestic travellers are anticipated.

“While exact figures remain fluid, tourism projections for KZN indicate a strong holiday period, with hundreds of thousands of visitors expected to travel across the province during this time. At this stage, occupancy levels remain difficult to quantify precisely.

Some fun activities and events are planned for the holidays such as Easter egg hunts and family-friendly experiences at local attractions. Markets, live entertainment and outdoor activities also form part of the broader Easter holiday.

These events are designed to enhance the visitor experience and provide entertainment for all age groups. For more information Explore the KZN South APP or visit www.visitknsouthcoast.co.za

Sibiya added that Easter remains one of the peak tourism periods for the South Coast.

He says the combination of long weekends, school holidays and favourable weather conditions traditionally results in increased visitor numbers, making it a key period for the region’s tourism economy.
