Many injured in Easter weekend crashes

Road users are reminded to exercise caution, especially during high traffic periods.

At least 30 people were injured in two separate accidents on South Coast roads over the Easter weekend.

On Easter Monday (April 6), on the Main Harding Road at Izingolweni, five people, including a child, were injured in a collision between a VW Golf 1 and a truck.

According to emergency medical services, Med-Evac, on arrival at the scene, their crew worked swiftly to stabilise a young child who was critically injured as well as a middle aged patient.

According to Med-Evac, several patients were treated on scene by various emergency services before being transported to various medical facilities for further treatment.

A second accident on the busy P200 in the late afternoon in Izotsha on April 4, saw multiple emergency services respond.

Twenty five people sustained various injuries, with one person entrapped in a vehicle. Emergency personnel worked swiftly to stabilise patients on scene, while coordinated efforts ensured the safe extrication and transport of the injured to various medical facilities for further care.
