Retiring Port Shepstone Regional Hospital staff wished well

Their work and contribution was acknowledged.

Port Shepstone Regional Hospital recently honoured retiring employees and thanked them for their dedicated service.

Human Resources manager, Mxolisi Zulu, said the retirements signified a period of reflection and organisational transition.

“These individuals have been the backbone of our institution. Their contributions cannot be overstated and their legacy will continue to influence the culture and standards of care within our hospital,” he said.

Among those retiring were individuals who served in key leadership and coordination capacities.

These included Babusisiwe Dlamini (Senior Medical Manager), Linda Manipersad (Assistant Manager Nursing) and Jayshree Tanjivelu (Infection Prevention and Control Coordinator).

Gathering to wish Senior Manager for Medical Services, Dr Babusisiwe Dlamini (seated) well are hospital executive management (from left) Nqobile Radebe, Mandisa Maqutu, Mxolisi Zulu, Tusani Mkwena, Oscar Dlamini, Bongani Madikane, Zakanzima Mbethe, and Zinhle Gumede.

Other retirees, whose work was integral to the daily operations of the hospital, included Lucia Kati (linen orderly), Thabisile Ntobela (CSSD attendant), Busisiwe Mdladla (linen orderly), Mduduzi Chili (handyman), Nelisiwe Maphumulo (admin clerk), Thembelihle Mthethwa (enrolled nurse) and Urmilla Gounder (clinical nurse practitioner – Marburg Clinic).

Special recognition was accorded to Linda, who devoted 38 years of service exclusively to Port Shepstone Hospital.

Nursing management hosted a farewell ceremony for her, which was attended by colleagues and her family.

The staff formed a guard of honour to escort her into the venue, where heartfelt tributes were delivered.

On the same day, theatre staff held a farewell gathering for Nurse Lungi Sokhela, who has relocated to Durban following a transfer.

The remaining retirees were similarly honoured through farewell events organised by their respective departments on different dates, ensuring that each individual’s service was appropriately recognised.
