Heinz Bunge takes ‘Top Gun’ trophy
Well done to all who took part, and to James Adie who scored the highest to take the 'Junior Cup'.
THE ANNUAL Niel Adie Memorial Clay Pigeon Shoot of the KwaZulu-Natal Hunters’ and Conservation Association was held recently in Paddock. The forecasted rain held off and wonderful weather was enjoyed by all who attended the shoot.
There were 40 guns (of which 15 were newcomers to the shoot) plus juniors. Five scenic ranges were set up on Deon Voigts’s farm overlooking the waterfalls and dam. Heinz Bunge and Angus Adie tied with 37/50, followed by Rob Mitchell. A ‘shoot-off’ was held and Heinz Bunge took the ‘Top Gun Trophy’ for 2014.
The Niel Adie trophy for ‘most improved’ went to Luke Jenkins with a 30 percent improvement from his previous score; second was Ed Jenkins and third was Jason Biggs. Of the 15 new entrants at the shoot, Ryan Rossler scored the highest for a ‘first-timer’, followed by Barry Burger and Sven Rossler.
The juniors were coached by Heinz Bunge and Angus Adie, as they tried their hand at this difficult sport. Well done to all who took part, and to James Adie who scored the highest to take the ‘Junior Cup’.
Wives and children joined the men for the sumptuous braai held after the shoot. Many thanks to Luke Jenkins for organising the shoot, all his helpers who set up and manned the ranges, as well as Deon Voigts for providing the venue.
