THE BMW all-day competition was a great success with new acquaintances being made and great fun had by all.

Third were Felicity van Rensburg, John Lowe, Austin Knollys and Charles Murgatroyd. Winners of the Fruit & Veg 2-4-2 were Barbara Fernihough and Abe Basson; second were Dawie Schlebusch and Annette Scott and the session prize went to Duncan and Margie Randall.
Two Bell teams went through to the KBA semi-finals at Umtentweni. The women’s team comprised Daphne Sapsford, Barbara Fernihough, Tina Barbour and Mada Lindeque and the men’s Louw Vermeulen, Keiron Dacey, Trevor Celliers and Steve O’Moore. The next competition will be the Hibiscus Insurance Brokers’ mixed trips tomorrow, Friday, March 28. Convenors are Dave Matthews and Mada Lindeque, with catering by Denise Nel and Margie Randall. The Warwick mixed fours, full day, will be played on Tuesday, April 1; please support it – there are great prizes to be won. IN the Indulgence mixed trips, played on Tuesday, March 18, overall winners were Joe Ashworth, Peter Zeirvogel and Ann McAllister and runners-up David Lindley, Sergio Ruperto and Pat Ruperto. The session prize went to Gawie Bosman, Jeannette Offer and Mike Carter.

WINNERS of the Shelly Beach SuperSpar women’s trips, with a score of 4 + 17, were Sheena Absalom, Vicki de Beer and Ann Hattingh – the only team to win both matches. Runners-up on 3 + 4 were Heather Roberts, Mal Sheppard and Lorraine Wijtsman. The session prize went to Barbara Gradwell, Amorie Schoeler and Jenny Rennie with a score of 2 + 11. The 50/50 draw was won by Ina Malan.
The Engel & Volkers Property Shop men’s fours was also held this week and this month’s winners were Eddie Fann, Jacques Snyman, P Geyer and Jan Snyman from PSCC with 23 points. Runners-up were Barry Delvin, Ken Tonge, Mike Jefferies and Danny McCarthy with 22 points. Third place went to Shane Nienaber, Jonathan Jacobson, Trevor Heywood and Ian Hutton from Margate with 21 points. This means that the Snymans have moved up the league ladder. Other upward movers are the teams of Ian Hutton and Bill Brown. Ladder leaders are Ken Tonge (48), Ian Hutton (39), Bill Brown (34) and Jacques Snyman (34). Winners of the Hibiscus Insurance Brokers’ development drawn mixed trips held last Sunday morning were Brian Hughes, Chris Haslam and Joan Tracey, followed by Ken Hills, Marie Momple and Paul Rose and then by Ivan Hosken, Rosalie Bloom and Alex Reith. A bring and braai was held afterwards and a great time was had by all.

WINNERS of the Manaba Kwikspar women’s 2-4-2 played last Friday were Ellen Cawker and Jessica Henderson on 4+28, with runners-up Yvonne van Mentz and Heather Roberts on 4+25. Session went to Dora Vosloo and Helen Proctor on 2+8.
Local teams are reminded to get their entries in for the annual Margate Tournament to be held from May 5 to 9. Entry forms are available from the club office.
The SA Under 25 Tournament will be held at MBC from April 1 to 4, with a braai for players and visitors on the Wednesday evening. Local players are invited to come and support these youngsters from all over the country and enjoy their skills and enthusiasm.

The Pig’s Ear Development Day is scheduled for Sunday morning, April 6. These days have proved to be extremely successful and loads of fun so bring along your friends and family and enjoy another morning of fun and laughter as well as the opportunity to try out your skills on the bowling green.
The monthly bingo evening will be held on Monday, April 7. Bring your friends, family and neighbours along for an evening of fun and camaraderie and enjoy a delicious supper at the same time.
There will also be an ‘Easter Parade’ on Sunday morning, April 20, so set this day aside. There will be prizes for the best Easter bonnets and hat with a bring and braai afterwards. Members as well as visitors are welcome to join in the fun.

Sunday morning bowls is played in mufti and everyone is welcome to come and join in a morning of fun. Bowlers and non bowlers are welcome.

TUESDAY was a good day for Patrick Kirkbright, Hein Bester and Fred van Niekerk when they won the Fish on the Pond men’s trips. Runners-up were Mike Gamble, Philip Lotter and Trebla Lansdell. The club played host to the KBA men’s fours last Saturday and Sunday. Unfortunately one team did not arrive so each of the other five teams experienced a bye. Thanks to the women who were complimented on the delicious food. Section 1 was won by Margate Bowling Club.
John Mett Jnr is flying back to England this week. He has been playing bowls and shows promise.
There will be no social bowls this coming weekend as the club is hosting the SpecSavers Pro 10 all day.
There are still vacancies for the Hibiscus Week being played from Hibberdene Bowling Club and down to PSCC from June 2 to 6.
