IT was a tough weekend for the Southern KZN cricketers who lost to Crusaders last Sunday.
The locals lost the toss and were put into bat on a spinner friendly wicket.
SKZN scratched its way to 158 for 7 after 50 overs. Ashley Lombard and Gareth Bishop made 55 runs and 47 runs respectively.
Crusaders cruised to victory, only losing two wickets and so winning by eight wickets.
In local cricket, the Knights took on DM Colts and made 186 all out, with Russell Hughes taking 4/37. Altaaf Bux, better known for his golf skills, top scored with 51 runs for the Knights.
In reply, the DM Colts got off to a good start, however suffered a collapse and got bowled out for 136 runs. Muhammud ‘Beaver’ Paraze took 4/11 to help the Knights win by 50 runs.
PSCC travelled to Sezela.
The visitors lost the toss and were put in to bat on a sticky pitch. Paul McGough took 3/20 and Tyron Olivier 3/4 as Sheppie slumped to 74 all out.
With the wicket starting to dry out, Sezela wasted no time with the run chase and passed the score with no wickets down. Mike Hooper scored 39 runs not out and Stevie van Heerden 32 not out.
This brings a close to the 50-over league.
Congratulations to DM Old Boys for topping the table in remaining unbeaten and collecting 12 points.
