Exciting finals at Southbroom TC

The players had a lot of encouragement from club members and visitors.

SOUTHBROOM Tennis Club’s championship 2014 finals were played recently with lots of sunshine and blustery wind, which of course did not affect players of this calibre.

First on the agenda was the women’s doubles, which was won by Ilona Krueger and Pauline Lee, runners-up Pippa Bromley-Gans and Luise Mohr. Frank Hall and Robert Perez won the men’s doubles with Simon Lee and Ron Stirling as runners-up.

The mixed doubles winners were Pauline Lee and Frank Hall, runners-up Luise Mohr and Ron Stirling. Pauline Lee is this year’s women’s singles champion with Zinnia Freitas coming second.

Frank Hall won against Simon Lee in the men’s final and there were quite a number of club members, as well as visitors, to watch and encourage players.

After play, Robbie Urban had organised a braai, catering for club members and personal friends for his farewell party. Thank you, Robbie, and hopefully you will be seen on the Southbroom courts again.
