Builders trade tools for clubs

There is always a festive atmosphere at the event.

ANTHONY and Basson won the annual Master Builders’ golf day at San Lameer Country Club last Friday.
The team played off a handicap of six and had a nett 54.
Their team comprised Mike Anthony, who is no stranger to low golf scores, Jaco van der Wal, Peter Brandsma and Elmar Basson.
In second place were T8 Holdings Industrial Roofing’s Marc Sheppard, Mike Aranjo, Martin Tait and Mike Tait on nett.
Counted out into third were Roto Tank, edging out NPC.
P&G Construction were fifth, followed by Windovert, MCB Construction and Formscaff.
Then came Kulucrete South Coast and the two Kencrete Readymix teams, followed by FS Gonzalves Construction’s teams one and three.
MBA were next, followed by Double Vision, Derwand Plumbing, Builders Trade Depot, SCG Construction, Hilty and another team from NPC.
These were the teams that made up the top 20.
NPC 3 were the putting competition winners, namely Carl Nolte, Neil du Plessis, Piet du Bruyn and Riaan Fourie.
Kulucrete and Kencrete won the ‘best hole’.
Longest drives were struck by Piet Kruger (1st) and Peter Brandsma (15th), while nearest the pins for least shots were won by Cheryl Flutter (4th), Brian Lind (9th), M Tait (14th) and Bevis Fairbrother (16th).
John edges out Ian

JOHN Beekman won the individual Stableford at Port Shepstone Country Club last Wednesday, carding 41 points and counting out Ian Stewart.
Paul Geoffery was next on 40 points, followed by Francis Moerdyk on 39 points.
The business day last Friday, with the mystery holes being the 6th and 12th, was won by Gerald Koch, Koos Fouche, Dave Milne and Roly Shaw on 102 points, counting out Charles Mostert, Leon Reeders, Ken Morris and Kevin Loring. In third place were Francis Moerdyk, Lyn Mol, Johan and Jacques de Villiers on 100 points.
Saturday’s bonus bogey saw Fanie Kuhn and Louis Klopper clean up on +13. There was a three-way tie on +10, shared by Jacky van Heerden and Abel Yeeranna, Kevin Jeacocks and Kevin Loring, Graham Fabricius and Leon Bunge.
The Illovo Sugar/Port Shepstone Lions Golf Day takes place this Saturday, May 17.

SIMON Lee may be disappointed that Arsenal didn’t challenge more strongly for the league title, but he wore a broad grin after carding 46 individual points last Thursday. He carded a three under par 68, which isn’t too shabby for a seven handicapper. Angus McLachlan was next on 41 points, followed by Richard Plaskitt and Patrick Mavundla on 39 points. Nearest the pin on the 16th, sponsored by Hibiscus Retirement Villages, was straight-striking Keith Duncalf. Brian Jolliffe won Saturday’s monthly medal on nett 66, counting out Colin Iddon, who had a 68 gross. Anton Kohrmann cleaned up in the B division on nett 67, with Mike Lee on nett 71. In the C division spoils went to Allan Halvorsen on nett 65, two clear of Graham Scowby.The women’s competition at Margate Country Club was won by Margaret Taylor on 37 points, followed by Margaret Ford on 33 points. Hilary Hendry was third on 31 points.
The Wednesday Wobblers’ comp was won by Eddie Scheepers, Ken Norval and Derek Egerton on 91 points, four ahead of Sarel Reynders, John Barker and Andrew Dickerson.
The Arthur Tomlinson Floater went to Eddy Pyle, Andy Buchan and Brian Jeffreys on 68 points.
