THE Port Shepstone Hockey Club men’s and women’s teams have made a solid start in the Durban first division this year.
The women played against Toti in cool weather. It was evenly matched, with Toti scoring first after 25 minutes and Karen Small equalising from the top of the circle.
The match ended 1-1, with goalkeeper Bianca Werner pulling off some great saves. She was duly named player of the match.
The men took on Rivers 4 last Sunday. Despite playing one man short, Sheppie managed to keep possession by moving well around the field.
At half-time they were 2-0 down but fought back in the second half, thanks to a field goal by Morné Bishop and a well-worked short corner by his cousin Gareth Bishop later on.
Sheppie’s defence held up with some superb saves by Darshen Pather.
The game ended in a 2-2 draw.
