New cricket format is outstanding
Cricketers will thoroughly enjoy this form of the game.
LASTMANSTANDS T20 is the fastest-growing amateur cricket league in the world. Locals had a chance to test their skills in this format at Port Shepstone Country Club last Saturday.
Its primary goal is to bring people back to the game of cricket by making it fun and unique. There is no great level of skill required so all are welcome. There are junior and senior divisions, ensuring a full family affair.
No longer is cricket an all day event and no longer does the summer rain ruin your game. LMS is played throughout the year, allowing even current cricketers the chance to keep their skills at an optimum level during the off-season.
There are only eight players per team and a brand new pink ball is used for every innings. A full game takes only two hours to play.
The last man bats by himself out in the middle. Two batsmen can go out on one delivery – a ‘double play’. If the last ball of the innings goes for a six the batsman gets 12 runs for his ‘home run’.
Not only does the game hold these unique rules but every ball is recorded by a state-of-the-art scoring system. Every ball faced, run scored and wicket taken is recorded to create a player profile that allows for a world ranking.
