THE much anticipated Engel & Volkers men’s fours league matches will take place this Friday morning. It will be interesting to see if the second placed form team from Port Shepstone can topple the leaders, Ken Tonge’s team from Margate. Only 12 points separate them. Also in close contention is Ian Hutton’s team, also from Margate. They will be playing Barry Christie’s team from the Village.

Please arrange your club competitions for Wednesday mornings. There are a number of competitions that need to be played urgently, however if you don’t have a competition arranged there will be tabs in. On Thursday morning it will be tabs only.

Jane Massam and Richard Cochman won the South Coast Herald 2-4-2. Ted Pownell and Barbara Sates were runners-up and the second session went to Tom Semple and Sandy Shepherd.

The Hopden’s Spar open trips winners were Ray Visser, Brian Muir and Brian Cross on 4+37. Rassie Erasmus, Gary Hess and Dawn Oehley on 4+23 were second and the session prizes went to Trevor and Yvonne Anderson with Heather Flyng (2+16) and John Sutton, Betty Bolton, with Manny Rodrigques (2+17).

THE three-day SuperSpar Port Edward tri-club mixed trips was once again a huge success. Jokkie van Buuren, Albert van der Lill and Tom Doubell won the event followed by Ellen Cawker, Amorie Schoëler and Mike Carter. Third placed was Dan Delaney (at 84 the oldest bowler in the field), Myra Doubell and Ally Weir. First day session was won by Cliff Moakes, Hester Hankey and John Keppler. Second day session winners were Hedley Meek, Marietta du Preez and Trevor Smith, and third day session went to Gae Gravell, Sergio Ruperto and Jeannie West. Sportsman prizes went to Anjie Gold, Peter Ziervögel and Eve Gower and the lamb raffle was won by Sister Sylvia Spencer.

Tyrone and Doreen Ferguson won the Harbour View SuperSpar mixed pairs on Friday, June 13 with a score of 4+11 from runners-up Louis Marx and Marie Fourie who scored 4+9. John and Janine Roloefse won the session prize on 2+5.
Tony Korb with Isabel Prenger, Astrid Jackson and Jack van den Berg won the Schooners Restaurant 3-2-1 scoring competition on Saturday, June 14 on a count out from Geoff Kelleher, Louis Marx and Ruth Findlay who played a broken rink.

The greens were very busy on Sunday when Nomads played its monthly game at Southbroom. This organisation does such a lot of worthwhile work in our community.

THE annual two day challenge between Port Edward and Toti takes place this weekend, June 21 and 22. The local ‘lads’ are wished good luck in their efforts to reclaim the trophy after ‘allowing’ Toti to take the prize last year. For this reason, there will be no tabs on Saturday.
