WITH little wind and magnificent weather over the past week, Margate Country Club golfers have been out in force.
The Wednesday Wobblers three ball alliance attracted a good field and with two scores to count it was Tony Peace, Piet Pretorius and Cyril Greensmith who took first place on a score of 85 points. Jim Finn, Dave Morrison and Dave Parson were second on 84, three ahead of Konnie Konrad, Gert Bezuidenhout and Rob Gill who carded 81. Hans Beilhartz, Dieter Jucker and Eddie Pyle’s score of 71 points was enough to secure them the Arthur Tomlinson Floater.
Thursday’s individual Stableford sponsored by Margate Pro Shop was won by Johan Neethling on 44 points. Mike Bond was second on 41 points, Dave Lippinow was third on 40 and Mike Lee found himself in fourth place with 38 points. Lou van Niekerk won the nearest the pin prize on the 16th sponsored by Hibiscus Retirement Villages.
The combined Stableford played on Saturday was won by Ronnie Mtshaka and Mot Molleeli on 77 points. Carding 70, Alan Davies and Keith Duncalf were second on a count out from Andrew Curlewis and Flip Fourie.
