WINNERS of the Jaxx/Venture Inn men’s trips were Duncan Randall, Shaun Titmus and Tony Botha, second were Alan Mandy, Stafford Tippett and Abe Basson. Session went to Renzo van Niekerk, Hew Hodgson and Howard Frizelle.
The Captain’s Anchor mixed fours was won by Luke Pohl, Johannie Theron, Ronel Bourman and Phil Viljoen, second were Jody Slade, Austen Knollys, Sandy Burls and Margaret Douglass. Third place went to Stan Sackett, Desiree Krause and Duncan and Margie Randall.
SMG (BMW) joined The Bell members for a development fun day last Saturday. Many visiting first time bowlers had a great time and the winner was the sport of bowls. The Nomads played at The Bell last Sunday and a good time was had by all.
A reminder that the ‘Springs Old Boys’ weekend will take place on August 9 and 10 and the players list is on the notice board. Duties: Tabs – Maureen Head and Marie Piek, bar and umpire – Stafford Tippett.

THE July Engel and Volkers men’s fours will take place this Friday and Ken Tonge’s team, log leaders on 86 points, will be challenged by Ian Hutton’s team, who moved up into second place on 68 points. Both Jacques Snyman and Bill Brown’s teams have 62 points and will be facing each other, so these positions will change.
The AGM will be on the afternoon of Saturday, September 6. New office bearer nominations will be posted on the board shortly. Duties: Gae Gravelle, Chris and Di Abram.

WINNERS of the Halfway Toyota men’s trips played last Friday were Denzyl Massyn, Gary Hess and Chris Abram on 4+7, runners-up, Tony Simmonds, John Richards and Bill Reed on 3+2 and session went to Athol Robertson, Dieter Scholz and Shane Nienaber on 2+3.

The next bingo evening will be at the clubhouse on August 4. Sunday morning bowls are played in mufti and bowlers and non-bowlers are welcome.

JACQUES Snyman, Sheenagh Dempster and Jan Snyman won the Serene Care/Glasfit sponsored mixed trips, second place was Mark Bischoff, John and Judy Hove, and Geoff Kelleher, Jane Massam and Cosmos Gumede came third.
The South Coast Herald sponsored mixed 2-4-2 was won by Tickey and Denise Nel, second, Felicity van Rensburg and Tony Aveyard, session prize went to Ted Pownell and Barbara Sates.
The Glasfit sponsored mixed trips is this Sunday afternoon and the Dr Daryl D’Arcy men’s trips will be played on the afternoon of July 24. The AGM will take place on July 19 at 3.30pm. Members to bring eats and wear club colours.

THE Banners Rest women’s pairs played last Friday was won by Pam Cole-Cook and Vi Pells. Runners-up were Irene Filmer and Val Smith, and second session went to Anjie Gold and Rina Fourie. 50/50 went to Pam Cole-Cook.
The next sponsored competition is the Port Edward SuperSpar mixed trips next Wednesday (catering by Ann McAllister). Joe Ashworth is wished a speedy recovery after his recent operation.

HIBISCUS Retirement Villages’ men’s trips was won by Bill Brown, Barry Herbert and Chris Abram, followed by Malcolm Milne, Hans Witjman and Alfred Shusha. Sessions went to Alan Tyers, Brian Hughes and Bill Parfitt and to Trevor Anderson, Brian Muir and Sydney Ackerman. Hans Witjman walked away with the whisky.
Picking up a ‘9’ along the way, the Hibiscus Insurance Brokers’ mixed trips was won by Betty Bolton, Ali Mitchell and Doug Kent, followed by Patrick Kirkbright, Audrey Faux and Louise Mann. Sessions were won by Carl Volker, Norman Friedlander and Cathy Kent and Ian Hutton, Vicki de Beer and Trixie Smith. Chris Abram won the 50/50.

The in-house Hyundai drawn mixed trips is this Saturday afternoon and Hibiscus Insurance Brokers’ drawn mixed trips will be played on Sunday morning in mufti, followed by a bring and braai. Bingo is this Friday and Russian hot dogs and boerewors rolls will be on sale.
Lists are up for the club’s singles competitions. Members must give markers some practice and also try to get any outstanding mixed pairs competitions played as soon as possible.

THE next sponsored competition is the Fruit and Veg mixed 2-4-2 on July 25. Olwen Gibbs, Hazel Williams, Bruce Coldwells won the Cupboard Value open trips on 4+18, second was Syd Ackerman, Dick Thompson and Jannie van der Nest on 4+2.

Port Edward hosted a mini-challenge last week against seven bowlers from Park Hill, followed by a delicious soup evening.

NOMADS want to thank The Bell for the hospitality day last Sunday, which had a wonderful turnout of 48 players.
First prize went to Brian Sapsford, Anne Hunkin, Kobus Faber and Ann-Marie Giblin on 10 +23. Second prize, sponsored by Orange River Wine Cellars, went to Daphne Sapsford, John Louw, Neville Philpott and Val Boshoff on 10+17.
Duncan Randall, Gae Gravell, Joan Sackett and Corrie Malan won third prize with 10+7 and the sportsman prize was awarded to Ina Malan, Sandy Burls, John Lee and Peter Giblin with 0-23. Nearest to the jack was Joan Sackett and the Annette Payne sponsored whisky draw went to Neville Philpott.
The bottle of whisky for the spider was donated by The Bell and won by Joan Sackett. Bill Brown, Rob Moni and Tony Bailey are wished good luck for the men’s national competition in Edenvale, Gauteng in August.

THE monthly nominated mixed trips played last Wednesday was won by Keith Mills, Tony Aveyard and Tammy Gibbons. Second prize went to Arthur and Miriam Seager, and sponsor representative Sophia Cronjé. Session was won by Jan and Helene Oosthuizen and Bruce Hoyer.
The nominated mixed trips played last Friday was won by Danie and Annetjie Human and Cheryl Knight. Second prize went to Keith Mills, Jenny Isemonger and Tammy Gibbons. Fay Patterson, Errol Brewer and Bubbles Bezuidenhout took session.
Condolences to the family of former club member Freda Bosse, who was laid to rest last week. Freda and her late husband Johnny, a good bowler whose name is on the honours board, played bowls when the clubhouse was on the beachfront next to the Alex Hotel.
The next competition will be the drawn trips, sponsored by Wimpy Hibberdene, tomorrow at 1.30pm.
