THE Port Shepstone Hockey Club women took on Saints last Saturday.
Elisa Rinaldi opened the scoring for Sheppie, but Saints came back and scored.
Sheppie then unfortunately scored an own goal to give Saints the lead. The score at half-time was 2-1 to Saints.
Saints scored a field goal about five minutes after half-time. Amanda Herbert scored off a short corner but the goal was disallowed.
Saints came back and scored another goal, making the score 3-1 to them.
Tanya Hielckert scored a field goal with about 15 minutes to spare. Saints scored their final goal of the game about 10 minutes before the final whistle.
The final score was 4-2 to Saints. Player of the match was Marike Durrheim.
The men, cheered on by the women, took on Gryphons last Sunday in a tough game.
There was no score on the board by half-time despite efforts from both teams. Glenn Jones was the first to put the ball in the back of the net for Sheppie.
This was closely followed by another goal from Gary Snider. Gryphons managed to sneak one in the box with about 10 minutes to go. The final score was 2-1 to Sheppie.
The women took on Collegians/Munies 4 in a postponed first round match in very hot conditions.
Lindy Horlock was the first to put a score on the board about nine minutes into the match. This is the score that remained until just after half-time.
Lindy scored again with a field goal. Sheppie then withstood a 10 minute attack from Collegians.
They counter attacked and turned the game around and started attacking with lots of ball passed from the left-hand side across the field to the right-hand side.
Amanda Herbert was next to score for Sheppie off a long corner. She also scored the last goal of the match and was named as Player of the Match.
